Choosing between bi-fold and sliding comes down to how you live. Bi-folds give you a completely clear opening, up to around 90% of the span, so on a summer day your kitchen and garden become one space. Sliding doors give you bigger individual panes and the thinnest frames, which looks stunning even when closed, but always leave part of the opening blocked by glass.
The difference between a brilliant bi-fold and a bad one is in the details you cannot see: the track system, the running gear, and the quality of the installation underneath. Our fitters check levels and drainage before a single panel is hung, because a door that settles into a dip will drag within a year. Common questions
Bi-fold or sliding doors, which should I choose?
Choose bi-folds if you want the opening fully clear in summer. Choose sliders if you want the slimmest frames and biggest glass panes, especially on a view. We will show you both at survey stage.
How wide can bi-fold doors go?
Most London extensions suit three to seven panels, up to around six or seven metres. We will advise on configurations that keep every panel light and easy to use.
Do bi-fold doors need much maintenance?
Very little: keep the tracks clean and have the running gear checked occasionally. We show you how at handover and remain on hand for adjustments.
